One Man Show

Two women play with masculinity in a whirling mix of object theatre, baroque
singing and electronic music.

In an attic full of toys and everyday objects, two women from bygone times explore the meaning of masculinity.
Out of sight of the man of the house, they give shape to their curiosity: what does it mean to be a man? What
makes a man a man?

With humour and precision, they dissect the objects that shape boys from a young age (a toy gun, an action
figure, a toolbox…) and question how these items define our ideas of manhood. At the same time, they reveal how
being a woman comes with its own set of limitations.

Electronic music and baroque vocals blend together as a man on electric guitar accompanies them. In this
cabaret-style, kaleidoscopic performance full of absurd scenes, sharp observations and playful interactions with
everyday objects, familiar images are turned upside down, prompting you to rethink how you yourself have been
shaped into a man, or a woman.

One Man Show uses humour, imagination and musicality to expose how fluid and yet stubborn, ideas about
masculinity can be.
